Nobuichi Branch Cutter 170mm Made in Japan
Nobuichi Branch Cutter 170mm
High Carbon Steel - Made in Japan
Designed and approved by world-renowned Japanese Shohin bonsai master Nobuichi Urushibata, the Nobuichi 170mm Branch Cutter is an essential precision tool for serious growers. Handcrafted in Japan from high-carbon steel, these cutters form a slightly indented, hollow cut in the wood beneath the branch collar. This unique profile allows the tree’s living bark to callus over smoothly and heal flush with the trunk, eliminating raised bumps or ugly scars.
At 170mm (~6.7 inches) in length, this compact size offers unmatched agility and leverage, making it the perfect choice for working on Shohin, Mame, and small-to-medium bonsai, as well as reaching tight canopy junctions on larger trees.
Usage & Care Guidelines
-
Recommended Cut Size: Ideal for pruning branches and stubs up to 10mm–12mm (~1/2 inch) in diameter.
-
Proper Cutting Technique: Position the blades parallel along the trunk or primary branch. Make a clean, single press. Never twist or pry the tool sideways while cutting to avoid damaging the high-carbon blades.
-
Maintenance: Wipe away sap and moisture after each session. Apply a light coat of camellia oil or tool maintenance oil before storing in a dry workspace.
